Language and platform independence

Web services built with OpenEdge permit language and platform-independent access to Progress 4GL business logic from non-Progress 4GL clients. Thus, the passing of data between the client and Progress 4GL Web service application is largely transparent to the client language or platform.

Note: The exchange of certain dynamic parameters requires additional information about the data definitions that can be conveyed, in a language-independent fashion, to the client using standard XML schema type definitions.
